Freeport Forecasts Contribution of Rp54 Trillion to the State in 2026

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) projects that the company’s contribution to state revenues will reach US$2.9 billion or Rp54 trillion in 2026. This target contribution is driven by plans to increase copper and gold production volumes in line with the recovery of the company’s underground mining operations.

PTFI President Director Tony Wenas explained that the contribution value consists of corporate tax payments, Non-Tax State Revenues (PNBP), and dividends. He stated that this projection uses an assumption of a gold price of US$4,000 per ounce, even though the current global gold price has already exceeded that figure.

“With the assumption of US$4,000 this year, the planned state revenue could reach US$2.9 billion or around Rp54 trillion. This includes taxes of US$1.2 billion, PNBP of US$600 million, and dividends for MIND ID of US$1 billion or around Rp17 trillion,” he said during a Hearing with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

The contribution value is predicted to increase in subsequent years. Tony projects that total state revenues from Freeport in 2027 will grow to US4.3billion, equivalenttoRp73.68trillion(assuminganexchangerateofRp17, 137perUS). It is even estimated to continue growing to US$6 billion, equivalent to Rp102.82 trillion, in the 2028-2029 period.

“In 2027, it will increase to a total of US$4.3 billion or nearly Rp70 trillion, and from 2028 onwards around US$6 billion. This US$6 billion is around Rp100 trillion every year in the form of taxes, PNBP, and dividends for the state,” he explained.

To support achieving this target, the company plans to increase ore mining capacity to 156,000 tonnes per day in 2026. Copper cathode production is targeted at 1.1 billion pounds, while gold bullion production is projected at 26 tonnes, all of which will be purchased by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam).

“So, looking at the ore mining projection in the graph on the side, this year in 2025 we are only mining 139,000 tonnes of ore per day, and in 2026 156,000 tonnes of ore per day,” said Tony.

Currently, the company is still focused on recovery efforts in the Grasberg Block C area, which was affected by technical issues from a landslide last year. The company is carrying out a gradual production ramp-up and ensuring that all underground mining infrastructure remains safe for workers.

“The plan is to carry out a ramp-up starting from May until the first quarter of 2027, after which we will begin operating Production Block 1, which is indeed high-grade,” he concluded.
