Freeport Employee Allegedly Shot Dead by Armed Separatist Group in Gresberg
Jayapura – The Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Brigadier General Faizal, has acknowledged receiving reports about the death of Simson Mulia, a PT Freeport employee, who was allegedly shot by an armed separatist group (KKB) in the Gresberg area, Tembagapura, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.
“We have just received a report about the shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday (11 March) which resulted in the death of a PT Freeport employee,” said Cartenz Peace Operations Commander Brigadier General Police Faizal Rahmadani on Tuesday.
Contacted from Jayapura, Cartenz Peace Operations Commander Brigadier General Police Faizal Rahmadani stated that it has not yet been possible to confirm which armed separatist group was responsible for the shooting.
“Personnel of the Cartenz Peace Task Force are continuing to investigate to determine who the perpetrators were,” he said.
Data collected by Antara revealed that the shooting incident, which killed Simson Mulia, occurred at approximately 08:39 WIT when the victim and a colleague were passing through the old reclamation area in Gresberg, Tembagapura.
