The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) has announced the commencement of a new international mission aimed at breaching Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The ships involved in this mission are scheduled to arrive in Gaza waters this coming October, following stops at several European ports.

In its official statement, the coalition asserted that the mission to challenge Israel’s illegal and lethal blockade of Gaza will proceed despite a documented history of violence by Israeli forces against previous flotilla volunteers and activists. Past incidents have included severe beatings, repeated use of tasers, and sexual harassment.

The FFC emphasised that immediate action is urgent, as global attention has begun to shift away from Gaza following the announcement of a ceasefire in October 2025. Currently, two ships are reported to have begun their journey.

The vessel Handala II sailed around Scandinavia in June and July, visiting Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Meanwhile, the ship Kate departed from Bristol, United Kingdom, earlier this month and has docked at ports in Ireland, Germany, and France.

Subsequent travel routes include stops in Spain, Portugal, and Italy before the flotilla continues its voyage towards the Gaza coast.
