Freed hostages leave Cabinda
Freed hostages leave Cabinda
LUANDA (AFP): Five Portuguese nationals released by a
separatist group in Angola after more than two months in
captivity have left the Cabinda enclave for Libreville, state
radio said on Thursday.
Before leaving Cabinda, the released hostages told the radio
that they were not mistreated and that the separatist rebels had
protected them from government attacks.
"They protected us from bombardments by government troops. We
have not been mistreated," freed hostage Gabriel Faria Pinto
said.
Rebels from the Cabinda Enclave Liberation Front-Renewed group
(FLEC-Renewed) "were humane to us. From time to time, we were
forced to flee bombardments, protected by them," Faria Pinto
said.
