Free Rides on Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT Jakarta on 24 April 2026

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is providing free public transportation services, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta, on Friday (24/4/2026). This policy is implemented to commemorate National Transportation Day. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the policy aims to encourage the public to switch to public transport in their daily activities. “Happy National Transportation Day on 24 April. To welcome National Transportation Day, the DKI Jakarta Government will provide facilities or free rides,” said Pramono in a video post on his personal Instagram account, quoted on Thursday (23/4/2026). The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that the public can directly experience the comfort and ease of public transportation services, so that in the future they will prefer public transport modes. In addition, increased use of public transport is considered to help reduce congestion and curb air pollution in Jakarta. “The Jakarta Government wants the public to get used to using public transportation facilities owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” Pramono said. The public must still tap cards or applications for journey recording. “Through a fare of Rp 1, we want to provide convenience while inviting more residents to switch to public transport as an efficient and sustainable mobility choice,” said Ayu, quoted from Antara. Ayu added that the momentum of National Transportation Day is expected to increase the public’s closeness to public transport. “We hope this momentum can further increase public interest in using public transport, not only on National Transportation Day commemorations, but also as part of a more efficient and environmentally friendly daily mobility lifestyle,” she said.
