Free Rides on TransJakarta, MRT, and LRT in Jakarta Today

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is making all public transportation services, such as MRT, LRT, and TransJakarta, free today, in commemoration of National Transportation Day. “Happy National Transportation Day, on 24 April this year, the DKI Jakarta Government welcomes Transportation Day and will provide facilities for ease or free rides,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, quoted from his official Instagram account, Thursday (24/4). According to him, the policy is taken because the DKI Provincial Government wants the public to switch from private transportation to public transportation. He hopes that the number of public transportation users will increase and traffic jams in the capital will continue to decrease. “The Jakarta Government wants the public to get used to using public transportation facilities owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” Pramono stated. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of public transportation passengers in Jakarta in 2025 is dominated by TransJakarta with 37.6 million users in July 2025, followed by MRT with 4.3 million passengers in July 2025, then LRT with 118 thousand passengers in July 2025.
