Free Public Transport in Jakarta During Eid 2026

Jakarta — Jakarta’s provincial government will provide free public transport services across the capital during Eid al-Fitr 1447H or Lebaran 2026, including the MRT, LRT, JakLingko, and Transjakarta services.

“During Eid, we will make all transport services in Jakarta free,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo at Central Jakarta on Friday.

Pramono believes the policy will encourage residents to remain active and celebrate Eid in Jakarta rather than travel elsewhere.

Additionally, the measure is expected to shift public behaviour towards using public transport, thereby reducing congestion potential during periods of increased mobility.

To attract residents and enliven the Eid celebration in the capital, the Jakarta government is also launching the “Jakarta Festive Wonder” programme during Ramadhan 2026.

Furthermore, the Jakarta provincial government is preparing tax incentives for business operators to enable them to offer significant discounts to the public.

The Jakarta Festive Wonder programme this year carries the theme “Safe Shopping, Controlled Prices, Blessed Eid” with a focus on maintaining stable prices for essential goods, increasing purchasing power, and stimulating the retail and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sectors.

The series of activities is scheduled to run throughout March 2026, with events held at shopping centres in five administrative cities and one regency in Jakarta, as well as strategic locations such as City Hall, city administration offices, MRT stations, and sub-district offices.

The Jakarta government is targeting a minimum 20 per cent increase in retail transactions during the Ramadhan period.
