Free Nutritious Meals Reach Schools on the Indonesia-Malaysia Border

On an island divided by two nations, the journey to school is not the only challenge faced by children. Now, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is also making the trip to the Indonesia-Malaysia border area on Sebatik Island, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. From the Central Sebatik Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG), officers deliver nutritious food to schools and integrated health posts so that children in Indonesia’s outermost regions gain the same access to nutrition as those in other areas. The programme reaches 13 integrated health posts and 10 schools, including Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Furqan, which is located on the edge of the state boundary line.
