Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Community Alliance considers the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to be very important and needed by the community, especially children in remote areas, in order to realise the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. “President Prabowo is providing meals for Indonesian children. If there are any mistakes, it is not the programme’s fault. Let us fix and improve the system together. Pak Prabowo is not alone; people in the regions, particularly on remote islands, really need this MBG programme,” said South Jakarta Community Alliance Coordinator Fakhri Ikbar on Thursday. He stated that the MBG programme is a vital investment for the nation’s future so that Indonesian children can be globally competitive. According to him, the programme also focuses directly on fulfilling the rights of ordinary people. “Pertamax is for the rich, MBG is for the Indonesian people, especially for Indonesian children, and once again, we, the Indonesian people, the youth in the regions, we continue to support President Prabowo’s programme, especially MBG,” Fakhri said. He suggested that mothers, or ‘emak-emak’, could be directly involved in monitoring the quality of meals at each supplying public kitchen. “Supervision of MBG can be carried out by every community member; for example, it can be monitored by the mothers in every kitchen. It is mandatory for us as citizens to know the condition of the kitchens. So, we can jointly oversee kitchens that are less competent,” Fakhri explained. In addition to safeguarding the MBG programme, the alliance also expressed its full support for other strategic government agendas, including eradicating corruption and continuing the downstreaming policy, which is seen as having a direct impact on the welfare of the lower classes. The peaceful action, which took place at 1:36 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, was attended by 10,000 representatives from the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas and various other regions, consisting of youth elements, mothers, and workers involved in the MBG programme ecosystem.
