The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation’s free mudik programme for 2026 opened today, Sunday (1 March 2026), beginning at 08:00 WIB. Members of the public wishing to return to their hometowns without cost can register immediately online, as quotas are limited and will close once filled.

The free mudik programme is being organised by the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation to facilitate the Eid 2026 homecoming season.

This year’s quota comprises 15,834 passenger seats and 240 motorcycles. Registration opens daily at 08:00 WIB and will automatically close once the daily quota is exhausted.

The scheme covers multiple Java destinations including towns in Central Java such as Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, Purwokerto, Tegal, Pekalongan, Demak, Boyolali, Klaten, Pati, Blora, Cilacap, Wonosobo, Kebumen, Magelang, Wonosari, Jepara, and Sragen. In West Java, participating destinations include Garut, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, and Kuningan.

Participants may register for both the outbound and return journeys simultaneously during the initial registration, provided return routes are available to their destination. Motorcycle registrations are conducted concurrently with passenger registration and are only available where quotas remain in the destination city.
