PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has recorded that the quota for the free motorcycle transport programme (Motis) utilised by the public stands at 33,843 tickets during the sales period from 13 to 30 March 2026. This figure represents 60% of the total capacity of 56,392 seats. Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that participation in the Motis programme is expected to continue increasing during the return flow of the 2026 Eid celebrations. “As the operator, KAI ensures that all Motis train services run smoothly so that customers can enjoy a peaceful journey,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. The programme is organised by the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation to reduce the use of motorcycles for long-distance travel during the Eid exodus and to minimise traffic accidents. Additionally, it provides more orderly and managed travel options, particularly for the public transporting motorcycles during the exodus. The train services for the free motorcycle transport programme cover the northern route from Pasar Senen to Cepu and vice versa, the central route from Pasar Senen to Lempuyangan and vice versa, as well as the southern route from Pasar Senen to Madiun and vice versa. Train passengers can transport their motorcycles simultaneously with each ticket purchase. KAI, according to Anne, continues to maintain operational quality during the Eid transportation period to ensure all journeys proceed in an orderly and comfortable manner, facilitating public mobility. “We invite the public to utilise the Motis programme during the Eid transportation period,” she added. During the period from 13 to 24 March 2026, the Motis programme has been utilised by 25,007 people. PT KAI considers this number to indicate public interest in alternative train travel for the Eid exodus.
