Free Motorcycle Mudik Service for Eid, KAI Yogyakarta Operates Two Routes
The free motorcycle transport programme (Motis) for the 2026 Eid holiday season officially launched on Sunday, 1 March 2026, with registration open from 1–29 March 2026. The programme, organised by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, continues to involve PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) through KAI Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta to support smooth holiday transport operations.
In the KAI Daop 6 region, two main services are available: Motis Central operating the Lempuyangan-Kampung Bandan route (return journey) and Motis South operating the Madiun-Kampung Bandan route, which also stops at Purwosari and Lempuyangan.
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager Feni Novida Saragih explained that KAI has prepared operational support and services to ensure the Motis programme runs smoothly in the Daop 6 region. “We encourage the public to take advantage of the Motis programme as a safer, more comfortable, and efficient option for holiday travel,” Feni said in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
She explained that registration for the 2026 Eid holiday Motis programme can be done online through the Nusantara.kemenhub.go.id website or directly at Lempuyangan Station and Purwosari Station daily from 08:00–17:00 WIB.
She noted that coordination with DJKA continues to ensure the registration process, verification, and departure of motorcycles and passengers can proceed in an orderly and safe manner. “This programme is an effective solution to reduce the risk of motorcycle accidents during the holiday rush whilst helping to alleviate traffic congestion during peak travel periods,” she said.
The Motis programme allows participant motorcycles to be transported using special railway carriages, whilst their owners travel by economy-class train.
