Free Motorcycle Homecoming 2026 Opened: Here Are the Schedules, Routes and Requirements
Directorate General of Rail Transport (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation has reopened the Free Motorcycle Homecoming (Motis) programme for Lebaran 2026. It is hoped Motis Lebaran 2026 will offer a safer alternative for people who typically travel home by two-wheeled vehicles. A transport policy survey conducted by the Ministry’s Transportation Policy Agency notes that the number of homebound travellers using motorcycles during Lebaran 2026 is projected to reach 24.08 million.
‘Motis is an annual programme that we run twice, namely during Lebaran transport and also Christmas and New Year. The programme is a manifestation of government presence given the large number of motorcycle users every year,’ said Arif Anwar, Director of Rail Transport and Rail Passenger Transport at DJKA, quoted by Kompas.com on Thursday (5 March 2026).
‘For each motorcycle we provide two free tickets for passengers, and an infant can be added,’ Arif said.
‘This year Motis will operate on three routes. It used to be two, northern and central. This year we have added a southern route,’ Arif added.
The pick-up point for motorcycles on all routes is centralised at Stasiun Jakarta Gudang.
‘We apologise that large motorcycles or superbikes cannot be accommodated yet,’ Arif said.
