Free medical services in W. Jakarta
JAKARTA: More than 170 physicians are providing free medical services for the public at Puri Indah, West Jakarta, from Friday through Sunday.
The event, which is taking place behind the West Jakarta municipality office, is organized by the Jakarta Military Command in cooperation with the Association of the Alumni of the National Defense Institute and the Indonesian Buddhist Council.
It involves a total of 70 general physicians, 55 specialists, 56 dentists, 142 paramedics and more than 300 volunteers.
The service offered is general medication, dental, eye and internist examinations, as well as minor operations.
"We are targeting 3,000 patients per day," spokesman of the military command Lt. Col. Apang Soepandi said.
The event was officially opened by Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Djoko Santosa, who was accompanied by Gen. (ret) Agum Gumelar, in his capacity as chairman of the defense institute alumni association, and Siti Hartati Murdaya, chairwoman of the Buddhist council.--Antara
