Although registration for the free homecoming program organised by the Bandung City Transportation Department has only been open for two days, due to high demand, the available quota for the free homecoming program now only has the Bandung-Kuningan and Cirebon routes remaining.

Registration for the free homecoming program has been open from 24th February 2026 to 6th March 2026 at the Asia Afrika JPO every Monday-Friday from 08:00-15:00. On Saturdays, it is open from 08:30-15:00. This year’s free homecoming routes are Bandung-Surabaya via the North, Bandung-Yogyakarta via the North, Bandung-Yogyakarta via the South, and within the province, Bandung-Kuningan-Cirebon and Bandung-Tasikmalaya-Banjar.

“Yesterday, on the first day, there were already a lot of registrants. Of the 250 tickets, there are only 23 left. The remaining quota is only for the Bandung-Kuningan-Cirebon route, while the other routes have been fully booked since the first day of registration,” said Bandung City Transportation Department officer, Gunawan Hadi, on Wednesday (25/2).

According to Gunawan, even though the registration schedule is still some time away, they ensure that there will be no additional quota. Thus, the registration schedule will be in accordance with the quota that has been set, namely 250. “Currently, there are 23 quotas left, and we will open registration from 8 am to 3 pm. The most popular routes are to cities outside Bandung, namely Surabaya and Yogyakarta,” he explained.

Previously, the Head of the Bandung City Transportation Department, Rasdian Setiadi, said that for the free homecoming program, they had prepared 5 buses with a quota of 250 people, so each bus would carry 50 people. The buses are scheduled to depart from City Hall on 17th March.

“The requirement to participate in the free homecoming program is simply an electronic ID card or a certificate of residence in Bandung City. If there are still quotas available, all residents will be served and will be able to get a seat. Registration is only open offline at the Asia Afrika JPO. It will probably be fully booked in just 2-3 days. I will then report to the Mayor for the departure,” he added.

The limited quota of free homecoming tickets prepared by the Bandung City Transportation Department has left those who registered disappointed and returning home empty-handed. “I wanted to go home to Yogyakarta, but when I wanted to register, the tickets were already gone,” said Surip with a disappointed expression.

According to Surip, as of 11:00, there were only 23 quotas left for the Bandung-Kuningan-Cirebon route, while the quotas for other destinations, including Yogyakarta, were confirmed to be fully booked. “Last year, I participated in the free homecoming program. My family and I took advantage of the free homecoming program because, besides being more economical, the journey is also safer than using a private vehicle,” he said. (H-2)
