Free Health Screening Programme Serves Over 78 Million Indonesians

The Free Health Screening (CKG) programme has served 78.05 million people up to 9 August 2026. The service covers various age groups, from newborns, toddlers and preschool children, to schoolchildren and adolescents, as well as adults and the elderly. Services are available at 10,292 community health centres (puskesmas) and 134,677 schools, covering all 514 districts/cities and 38 provinces.

Screening results have revealed a number of health issues requiring attention. In children, dental caries was one of the most common findings, while in adults, a lack of physical activity, central obesity, hypertension, and pre-diabetes were discovered. In newborns, findings included low birth weight and the risk of congenital heart disease, whereas in the elderly, a lack of physical activity, central obesity, mobility impairments, and tooth loss were identified. This data highlights the importance of early detection to prevent health problems from becoming more serious.

In 2025, Indonesia’s health expenditure is estimated to reach around Rp660 trillion, an increase of approximately 5% compared to the previous year. As of 29 July 2026, public participation in the CKG programme in Pekanbaru reached 177,081 people, or 17.44 percent. The Ministry of Health continues to strengthen its tuberculosis (TB) control strategy through early detection, active case finding, and expanding access to community-based health services. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that the CKG is not only the largest screening programme ever conducted in Indonesia.
