Free Functional Toll Available: Lampung to Medan Return Journey Toll Costs Calculated
Jakarta — With the Eid holiday travel season approaching, Sumatran commuters can now travel between cities using the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road. Although the main corridor is not yet fully connected, several sections are already operational.
Those travelling from Lampung to Medan or even further north to Sumatra Utara Province can use several Trans-Sumatra toll sections to reduce travel time compared to using national roads.
Several toll sections operate as functional tolls, offering free passage. However, users must prepare electronic toll (e-toll) balance for smooth and comfortable travel.
Based on data from PT Hutama Karya (Persero) and the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), here are the toll tariffs for class I vehicles on the Lampung-Medan route:
Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll: Rp254,000
Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung toll: Rp255,500
Kayu Agung-Palembang toll: Rp50,000
Pekanbaru-Dumai toll: Rp171,500
Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura toll: Rp22,500
Medan-Tebing Tinggi toll: Rp60,000
Medan-Binjai toll: Rp27,500
From Palembang, travellers can use the Palembang-Betung Functional Toll Sections 1 and 2 free of charge.
Travellers then rejoin the Trans-Sumatra Highway towards Jambi and Pekanbaru. From Pekanbaru, they can return to the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll, then exit at the Pinggir Toll Gate. From Dumai to Indrapura, travellers will continue on the Trans-Sumatra Highway.
From Indrapura, travellers can enter the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura toll via the Indrapura Toll Gate, continuing to Medan.
The estimated e-toll balance required for a Lampung-Medan or Binjai return journey is Rp841,000.
This toll cost estimate applies to class I vehicles, which include sedans, jeeps, pick-ups, small trucks and buses, representing the lowest tariff category.
Travellers can utilise the functional toll from Lampung to Medan, specifically the Palembang-Betung Toll from Kramasan to Pangkalan Balai.
