Frank Admission! KPK Says Regional Heads' THR to Forkopimda is Quite Widespread

Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that the provision of holiday allowances (THR) by regional heads to the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) occurs quite extensively in several areas of Indonesia. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said this was uncovered from the results of sting operations (OTT) conducted by the anti-corruption agency. “The methods of providing THR to parties outside, such as Forkopimda, from district governments, this has been quite extensively revealed from several sting operations carried out by the KPK,” Budi told reporters, as reported by ANTARA on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. Budi cited examples of this method occurring in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu; Cilacap Regency, Central Java; and Tulungagung Regency, East Java. Therefore, he said the KPK will continue to trace the flow of funds, particularly related to the provision of THR to Forkopimda. For instance, he said, in the Rejang Lebong case, where the KPK examined five witnesses on 21 April 2026. “This will continue to progress. We will keep updating on the developments of this investigation,” he said. Previously, the KPK conducted three sting operations (OTT) in 2026. The suspected method of providing THR to Forkopimda was initially known from the OTT against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. After that, the KPK reported a similar method carried out by Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo. For the case of Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, the KPK initially stated that the regional head received suspected bribe money which would then be used for THR distribution. However, it has not yet been mentioned regarding plans to provide THR to Forkopimda in that area. On 21 April 2026, the KPK revealed that it examined two police members, two prosecutors, and one civil servant to investigate the provision of THR by Fikri Thobari to the Forkopimda of Rejang Lebong Regency.
