FPIR: We Must Maintain National Solidarity for the Prabowo-Gibran Government

The Democracy Literacy Spectrum (SLD) held a discussion titled ‘National Solidarity for a Resilient Indonesia’ in Jakarta on Friday, 26 June 2026. The discussion was held as a form of collective commitment among youth and students in response to today’s mass action turmoil. Coordinator of the Indonesian Raya Youth Forum (FPIR), Fauzan Ohorella, stated that demonstrations by various elements continue to increase in a number of regions, including Jakarta. Fauzan assessed that this action is part of normal social control when there are problems in the running of the government. ‘I think this is a natural thing when we as a society feel there are issues with governance. This is a reaction stemming from current public unrest,’ said Fauzan Ohorella. Fauzan also mentioned that the emerging issue of a ‘Reformation Jilid II’ is irrelevant and highly tendentious, aimed at disrupting the stability of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s government. According to him, this issue is not part of the student aspiration struggle. ‘We must be able to maintain National Solidarity for the Prabowo-Gibran government. From this discussion, it must serve as a message to groups wanting to delegitimise the government’s solidity today,’ Fauzan asserted. On the same occasion, Wawan Sugiyanto, Special Staff to the Deputy Minister of Manpower, also explained the issue of several large companies wanting to leave Indonesia and the thousands of layoffs to be carried out by companies. ‘This is not purely the government’s fault. We also continue to push for the welfare of labour groups. But what must be understood is that workers’ demands must also adjust to the company’s capacity. I think this is the trigger for this issue,’ explained Wawan Sugiyanto. Furthermore, Wawan also emphasised that strengthening the MSME sector must continue to be enhanced as a form of a people’s economy. According to him, employment is not solely about large companies. ‘MSMEs are also part of employment. Therefore, the government must further strengthen the MSME sector as cells of the people’s economy. Because employment is not specific to large companies,’ said Wawan.
