BANDUNG – The Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) received an operational vehicle in the form of one Toyota Hiace unit from PT Telkom Indonesia during a handover ceremony at the East Lobby of FPIPS UPI on Monday (4/5/2026). The event was attended by university leaders, company representatives, and the UPI academic community.

The operational vehicle assistance is intended to support the implementation of the three pillars of higher education—particularly community service activities, strengthening education, and developing programmes based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UPI Rector, Didi Sukyadi, expressed appreciation for the support provided by PT Telkom Indonesia to UPI. According to him, the presence of the operational vehicle will help enhance the effectiveness of various university activities in the field.

“This vehicle is very much needed to support university mobility, especially in developing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes,” he stated in a comment quoted on Sunday (10/5/2026).

He explained that the vehicle would be used for various activities, ranging from community service in remote areas, mangrove planting, to monitoring student activities at UPI’s regional campuses such as Serang, Purwakarta, Tasikmalaya, Sumedang, and Cibiru.

In addition, the collaboration between UPI and PT Telkom Indonesia encompasses strengthening synergies in digital education and the development of distance learning.

Representative of PT Telkom Indonesia, Rico Junian, stated that the assistance is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the education sector through its corporate social responsibility programmes.

“We view UPI as a strategic partner that plays an important role in the world of education. Through this assistance, we hope that the collaboration can continue to grow and provide benefits to society,” he remarked.

Dean of FPIPS UPI, Cecep Darmawan, stated that the operational vehicle will be utilised optimally to support both academic activities and community service oriented towards sustainable development.

“This assistance is part of efforts to support improvements in education quality as well as tangible contributions to achieving sustainable development goals,” he explained.

According to him, FPIPS UPI has been actively developing various sustainability programmes, such as the green campus movement, strengthening social ecology, and community empowerment based on education.

Through this operational vehicle assistance, the collaboration between higher education institutions and the industrial sector is expected to further strengthen the contributions of higher education in addressing social challenges and sustainable development in society.
