Four Youths Who Shot Student with Airsoft Gun Were Fellow Gang Members, Police Reveal Roles

Police have revealed that the four perpetrators of a brutal airsoft gun shooting on Jalan Laksda Adisucipto, Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman, were fellow gang members. Of the four perpetrators, three are still being pursued by police.

The shooting incident was experienced by a victim with the initials ARP (17) while returning from Solo in the early hours of Sunday (2/8). The four perpetrators were reportedly not neighbours, but fellow gang members.

“No, the perpetrators were not neighbours; their addresses are different. They had been friends for a long time and were in a gang, but they may have met again and then committed this crime,” said Kiswanto, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Sleman Police, during a press conference at Sleman Police Headquarters, as reported by detikJogja on Friday (28/8/2026).

Police also detailed the respective roles of the airsoft gun shooting perpetrators.

“The one who fired the shot is the one we have detained. The roles of the other perpetrators include one who carried a sickle-type sharp weapon, one who acted as the rider, and one who recorded the video. It is possible they deliberately created content to show to their friends,” he explained.

The arrested perpetrator has the initials IRS (27), who acted as the executor. He was apprehended on Saturday (22/8). The man, who is a student, lives in the Maguwoharjo area.

“The perpetrator IRS, aged 27, male, a student, with an address in Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman. The victim was random; he had no problem with that person,” said Kiswanto.
