Jakarta - Four soldiers from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) are involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS). The TNI Military Police Chief, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that his office received the four suspects on Wednesday morning (18/3/2026). The four soldiers have been secured and detained at the Jakarta Military Command (Pomdam Jaya). However, Yusri has not yet announced their roles or the motive behind the acid attack on the activist. “We are still investigating the motive,” he emphasised. Previously reported, KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack by unknown individuals on Thursday night (12/3/2026) in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim experienced burns to approximately 24 percent of his body. Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus must undergo intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
