Four TNI soldiers accused of the acid attack against Kontras activist Andrie Yunus have been charged with 2 years and 6 months in prison. The demand was read by the Military Prosecutor during a trial held at the Military Court II-02 Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

In the indictment, the Prosecutor requested the panel of judges to impose prison sentences on the four defendants: Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, Lieutenant One Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and Lieutenant One Sami Lakka.

“Impose a prison sentence of 2 years and 6 months, fully reduced by the period of temporary detention already served by the defendants,” stated the Military Prosecutor during the reading of the indictment.

The Prosecutor assessed that the defendants were proven legally and convincingly to have jointly carried out a premeditated assault resulting in serious injuries to the victim. The four individuals were found to have violated the indictment more subsidiarily under Article 467, paragraph (1) juncto paragraph (2) jo Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP).

According to the indictment, the attack was carried out in a structured manner. The defendants followed the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, to the Jalan Salemba area in Central Jakarta at approximately 11:30 PM. At the intersection of Jalan Salemba I and Jalan Talang, two defendants on a motorcycle intentionally turned around to take a path opposing the victim, while the other two defendants monitored the situation from behind.

“Upon passing the victim, Defendant I immediately splashed sulphuric acid onto the body of Mr Andrie Yunus,” the Prosecutor explained.

The Military Prosecutor also presented the Visum et Repertum results from RSCM Hospital, which demonstrated the fatal impact of the chemical attack on the victim’s physical condition. According to medical documents, Andrie Yunus suffered severe chemical trauma to his right eye. Additionally, he sustained second to third-degree burns on his face, neck, chest, and both arms, with total damage covering 24 per cent of his body surface.

“As a result of these injuries, Mr Andrie Yunus has now lost vision in his right eye and has suffered severe injuries that are stated to have no hope of full recovery,” the Prosecutor emphasised.

Following the reading of the indictment, the Chief Judge adjourned the trial and scheduled a follow-up session for Thursday, 4 June 2026, with the agenda being the reading of the defence notes (pleidoi) by the defendants or their legal counsel.
