Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesian National Army’s Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has acted swiftly by naming four rogue soldiers as suspects in the case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. This firm step was taken after the military conducted a series of intensive examinations of the perpetrators, who are now officially detained.

The Commander of the Military Police Centre (Danpuspom) TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, provided an official statement at the TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/03/2026). Nuryanto confirmed that the identities of the four suspects are NDP, SL, BHW, and S, whose status has now been elevated to the investigation stage.

“These suspected individuals are now being secured at the TNI Military Police for further deepening into the investigation stage,” said Nuryanto during the press conference.

The Puspom TNI is currently continuing to probe further statements to uncover the veil behind this heinous act. The investigation is focused on the underlying reasons or motive that drove the rogue soldiers to recklessly carry out the acid attack on Yunus.

“We are also still delving into what the motive was from the alleged perpetrators,” stated Nuryanto.

As a follow-up legal step, Puspom TNI will soon complete the case file, including gathering statements from the victim’s side. Nuryanto emphasised that they will also involve a medical team to strengthen evidence of the physical violence suffered by the activist.

“Then, as a follow-up to the investigation activities, Puspom TNI will continue by preparing this police report later from the victim witness, then carrying out temporary handling of the four suspects, and we will also submit a request for visum et repertum to RSCM,” said Nuryanto.

This legal process is assured to proceed strictly with maximum security for the suspects. Nuryanto explained that the rogue individuals will be placed in a detention facility with the highest level of security belonging to Kodam Jaya.

“The suspects have been secured and examined at Puspom TNI. For their detention, we will carry out detention entrusted to Pomdam Jaya, where there is super maximum security detention,” he added.

For their actions, these four TNI rogue personnel face a considerable prison sentence. Nuryanto explained that the suspects are charged under Article 467 of the Criminal Code and Law No. 1 of 2023, which regulates criminal assault.

“The article applied to the four alleged perpetrators is temporarily Article 467 of the Criminal Code, with paragraphs 1 and 2, where the penalties are already stipulated there, ranging from 4 years to 7 years,” clarified Nuryanto.
