Four TNI Members Suspected in Acid Attack on Andri Yunus; Here Are Their Initials
JAKARTA - Four members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces’ Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) have been named as suspects in the alleged acid attack on Andri Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). “The suspects have now been secured and examined at the TNI Military Police Centre,” stated Commander of the TNI Headquarters Military Police Centre, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). “Regarding their detention, they will be held at the Jayakarta Military Region Command, which has a super maximum security facility, and we will place them there,” he emphasised. Yusri revealed the initials and ranks of the perpetrators: “Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES,” he disclosed. As a result of the attack, Andri suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim sustained burns to approximately 24 percent of his body. Coordinator of the KontraS Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, stated that the incident occurred after Andri finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Menteng, Jakarta.
