JAKARTA - Four TNI members, suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, have been charged with premeditated assault under Article 467 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP). “There are paragraphs 1 and 2, where the penalties are already stipulated, with some facing four years and others seven years,” said TNI Pushpom Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Furthermore, Yusri stated that they are still investigating the masterminds behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. “So, regarding who gave the orders, that’s it. We are still delving into that,” he said. The two-star TNI general explained that the investigation is ongoing, gathering witness statements and evidence, including exploring the perpetrators’ motives. He asked the public to be patient and assured that the investigation process is being conducted professionally and transparently. “We will later convey the stages, starting from the investigation process, file compilation, then handover of the file to the Military Prosecutor (Odmil), up to the trial process,” he stated. As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns on several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the incident occurred after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Menteng, Jakarta.
