Four TNI Members Charged with Aggravated Assault on Andrie Yunus
Four TNI members have been charged with committing aggravated assault against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, in the acid attack case.
The defendants in this case are: Defendant I, Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko; Defendant II, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi; Defendant III, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo; and Defendant IV, First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
The prosecutor stated that the four defendants first encountered Andrie in March 2025 when he forced his way into and interrupted a meeting on revisions to the TNI Law at a hotel in Jakarta.
“Due to that incident, the defendants considered that Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” the prosecutor said during the trial session for reading the indictment at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4).
Then, on 9 March 2026, Defendants I and II met and chatted about their service and personal lives.
At that time, Defendant I showed a viral video of Andrie entering and interrupting the TNI Law revision meeting in 2025.
Their conversation continued on Wednesday, 11 March. At that point, all four defendants gathered in Defendant I’s room.
According to the prosecutor, during the discussion, Defendant I expressed his anger about Andrie Yunus.
“By saying ‘Andrie Yunus forced his way into the meeting room at the Fairmont Jakarta hotel which was discussing the TNI Bill, so Andrie Yunus has trampled on the TNI institution, by Andrie Yunus together with the KontraS NGO suing the TNI Law to the Constitutional Court’,” the prosecutor said.
“In addition, Andrie Yunus accused the TNI of intimidating and terrorising the KontraS office. And the TNI was also accused of being the mastermind or actor behind the riots at the end of August 2025. Andrie Yunus also vigorously promoted an anti-militarism narrative,” the prosecutor added.
At that time, Defendant I said he wanted to punch Andrie Yunus as a lesson and deterrent effect.
However, Defendant II said not to punch him, but to splash him with rust cleaner liquid instead.
“Defendant I said I’ll do the splashing myself; hearing Defendant II’s idea, Defendant III agreed and said if that’s the case, we’ll do it together,” the prosecutor said.
For their actions, the defendants are charged under Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. Subsidiarily, Article 468 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. More subsidiarily, Article 467 paragraph (1) jo paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code.
