Four TNI BAIS Members Named Suspects in Acid Attack on KontraS Activist, Now Detained at Guntur
Jakarta, VIVA – The latest development in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has seen the TNI’s Central Military Police (Puspom) officially designating four active soldiers as suspects.
The four suspects are members of the TNI BAIS Headquarters Detachment (Denma). They are identified by the initials SL (First Lieutenant), NDP (Captain), BHW (First Lieutenant), and ES (Sergeant), originating from the Air Force (AU) and Navy (AL) branches.
“The four perpetrators have been designated as suspects,” stated the TNI Headquarters Information Centre Chief, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, quoted on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
Furthermore, the suspects have been detained at a military detention facility with maximum security at the Jakarta Raya Military Command (Pomdam Jaya) Guntur since 18 March 2026. They are charged under the assault article.
“The article applied to the suspects is the assault provision,” he said.
Although suspects have been named, the TNI has not yet disclosed the detailed motive or full chronology of the case. The investigation continues to examine each perpetrator’s role.
It is known that four TNI soldiers were involved in the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus.
This was revealed by the TNI Puspom Commander, Major General Yusri Nuryanto. Yusri said he received information regarding the alleged involvement of the four TNI soldiers on the morning of Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
“So this morning, I received from the TNI BAIS Denma, four individuals suspected of carrying out the assault against Mr Andrie Yunus,” said Yusri during a press conference on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
Yusri explained that the four TNI soldiers have been secured. His side is currently delving into the motive behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
“So we are also still investigating what the motive is from the four alleged perpetrators,” he stated.
Presidential Attention
The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, stated that the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus is a serious criminal act classified as terrorism.
He emphasised that the acid attack on Andrie Yunus must be thoroughly investigated to the masterminds behind the incident.
