A Siberian Husky in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, was subjected to violence by an unknown individual. The dog was slashed, resulting in severe injuries. The incident went viral on social media. In a circulating video recording, the white-grey-black Husky is seen with an open wound on its head. The dog appeared weak and was bleeding from the head. The police have stepped in to investigate the incident. The Babelan Police have involved the Polda Metro Jaya in handling this case. A series of investigations into this animal abuse case are still being conducted by officers. ‘It is true that the Polda Metro Jaya Animal/K9 Unit has been involved to assist in handling the alleged abuse of a Husky in the Kebalen area, Babelan, Bekasi Regency,’ said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Thursday (16/7). A tracking dog from the Polda Metro Jaya K9 unit was deployed to the crime scene. He explained that the dog was found by its owner on Sunday (12/7) evening, in an injured condition and covered in blood with a head wound suspected to be from a sharp object. ‘Initial handling was carried out by the Babelan Police Criminal Investigation Unit, while the K9 team assisted with tracking around the location,’ he said. The pet dog has been taken to a veterinarian for wound treatment. In the video, the fine fur on the dog’s head is seen being shaved for the treatment of the open wound it sustained. Babelan Police officers together with the Polda Metro Jaya Animal Unit checked the crime scene and conducted tracking on Tuesday (14/7). The location of the alleged dog abuse has been identified, but the perpetrator of the slashing is still being sought. ‘The K9 animal Zeus combed a resident’s plantation area from the blood trail point until it led to an empty building under renovation, about 50 metres from the location,’ he said. According to circulating information, the dog suffered four slash wounds and nearly bled to death. The dog is still under intensive care at a veterinary clinic. The police have reminded the public that there are legal sanctions for animal abusers.
