Four Suspects in Acid Attack on KontraS Official Andrie Flee to Kalibata and Bogor
Police say four suspects accused of throwing acid at Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), fled immediately to different locations after carrying out the attack.
In the incident, the four suspects used two separate motorcycles. Two individuals threw the acid at Andrie, while the other two followed the victim.
Director of Criminal Investigation at Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Iman Imanuddin, stated that the findings were based on analysis of CCTV footage seized by investigators.
“After the incident, our team conducted surveillance on the suspects as they fled in different directions from two teams,” Iman said during a press conference on Monday (16 March).
Iman revealed that one of the motorcycles fled the scene going against traffic on Jalan Salemba Raya towards Senen. From Senen, it then moved to Jalan Kramat Raya and headed towards Tugu Tani.
“From Tugu Tani, it then moved towards Gondangdia Station. From Gondangdia, this was heading towards South Jakarta,” he said.
As for the other motorcycle, from the scene they immediately fled towards Jalan Pramuka Sari 2 towards Matraman.
“From Matraman, they were monitored on CCTV heading towards the Jatinegara area, then to Jalan Otto Iskandardinata in East Jakarta,” Iman said.
Based on the CCTV footage, Iman noted that one suspect appeared to have changed clothes during the escape attempt.
“From the CCTV footage, which we combined with digital processing of communications devices, after the incident one suspect allegedly changed clothes before continuing their journey during their escape. Analysis of communications devices shows the suspects subsequently scattered to the Kalibata, Ragunan, and Bogor areas,” he said.
Previously, Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), became a victim of acid attack in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12 March) evening.
