Four Suspects in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Placed in Maximum Security Detention

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has stated that the four suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus are now held in military detention with high security. “The four perpetrators have been designated as suspects and have been detained at the maximum security military detention facility of the Jakarta Military Region Command (Pomdam Jaya Guntur) since 18 March 2026,” said TNI Information Centre Head Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah in an official press release on Tuesday (31/3/2026). The four suspects have been charged in connection with the incident that occurred on the night of Thursday (12/3/2026). “The article applied to the suspects is for assault,” Aulia stated. “However, the doctor has not yet permitted it due to health reasons,” he emphasised. On 25 March 2026, the TNI Military Police Corps (Puspom TNI) received a letter from the Chair of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) stating that the victim is under LPSK protection. “(Now) The Commander of Puspom TNI has sent a letter to the LPSK Chair regarding a request to obtain a statement from the witness victim, Mr AY,” he explained. The four suspects in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus come from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches of the TNI. Two of the four suspects are the executors of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. However, the other two are still undergoing examination. Nevertheless, Puspom TNI has not yet disclosed detailed roles, motives, or the complete chronology of the attack. Puspom TNI assures that they are investigating the masterminds behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. Most recently, the Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo, has resigned from his position following the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus.
