Four Suspected Perpetrators in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus from TNI's Bais

The Commander of the TNI Headquarters Military Police Centre (Danpuspom Mabes TNI), Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four suspected perpetrators of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus hail from the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais). “These four suspected perpetrators are from the Bais TNI Denma,” Yusri said during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). “Their matrix is from the Navy and Air Force,” he explained. Nevertheless, Yusri has not yet announced the roles and motives behind the acid attack on the activist. “So we are still delving into the motive,” he emphasised. Previously reported, KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack by unidentified individuals on Thursday night (12/3/2026) in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim sustained burns to approximately 24 percent of his body. Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus is undergoing intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
