Four students drown in Minahasa
MINAHASA, North Sulawesi: Police have recovered the bodies of four students of the Tomohon III state-run junior high school in Minahasa regency who drowned while swimming in the sea near the Tasik Ria tourist resort.
First Insp. Sianturi, chief of the Manado Air and Sea Police, said on Saturday the bodies of two of the victims -- Mikel Dian, 12, and Yanti Wuisan, 15, -- were recovered on Thursday, and the bodies of the other two students -- Adrianus Untu, 15, and Matius Kaunang, 15, -- were found on Friday.
After undergoing autopsies, the bodies of the students were handed over to their respective families for burial.
The victims were among a group of students on an outing to the sea.
"We all love our children, but God loves them more" N.E. Lasut, the principal of the school, said.
He said the incident served as an important reminder for other students to be more cautious in the future.--Antara
