Four SPPI KDMP-KNMP Participants Die During Military Training
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the deaths of four participants in the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) programme for the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) and Koperasi Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP) schemes. The participants fell ill and died while undergoing military training.
The Ministry, acting as the National Selection Committee, stated it is conducting a thorough evaluation of the incidents. It is also providing assistance to the families and overseeing the repatriation of the deceased participants’ remains.
Brigadier General Rico Sirait, Head of the Information Bureau at the Ministry’s Secretariat General, said on Friday (26/6/2026) that the evaluation includes strengthening the health selection process, improving early detection of medical conditions among participants, increasing supervision by health personnel during training, tracing other participants with similar complaints, and refining health handling procedures across all training units.
The four deceased participants were identified as Muhammad Rifqi Renaldi Gunawan, Novia Rahmadhani Sihotang, Anisa Muyassaroh, and Yonanda Muhammad Taufiq.
Muhammad Rifqi was undergoing training at the Yon Parako 465 Training Unit. He initially complained of shortness of breath on Thursday (25/6) and received initial treatment from the unit’s medical team. His condition temporarily improved before deteriorating again later that day, leading to his referral to the RSAU dr Esnawan Antariksa hospital. Despite intensive care in the ICU, he was pronounced dead in the early hours of 26 June 2026. Officials noted he had passed the required health screening prior to commencing the programme.
Novia Rahmadhani Sihotang, who was training at the Pusbahasa Kodiklatau Training Unit in Jakarta, died on Tuesday (23/6) after her health declined during training on Monday (22/6). She was also taken to RSAU dr Esnawan Antariksa, where medical examinations indicated her condition was related to Tuberculosis (TB).
Anisa Muyassaroh died from heat stroke while training at the Dodikjur Rindam VI/Mulawarman Training Unit in Balikpapan. Yonanda Muhammad Taufiq died at the Puslatpur Kodiklatad Baturaja Training Centre after experiencing a decline in his physical condition on 17 June 2026.
