Four Soldiers Facing Up to Nine Years in Prison and Dishonourable Discharge for Assault

The Indonesian Air Force Military Police (Puspom TNI AU) have identified four suspects responsible for the assault that led to the death of Sergeant Ahmad Muzammil Farisa. The suspects, identified as Serda JM, Serda MAD, Serda MTS, and Serda AH, face potential prison sentences of up to nine years.

“The charges against the suspects include Article 131, paragraph 3 of the Military Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20, letter C of the Indonesian Criminal Code (Law No. 1 of 2023), which regulates assault committed by military personnel resulting in death, carrying a maximum penalty of nine years imprisonment,” stated the Head of the Air Force Military Police, Air Vice Marshal Daan Sulfi, during a press conference at the Puspom TNI AU Office in East Jakarta on Wednesday (16/09/2026).

Daan Sulfi added that the suspects could also be charged under Article 467, paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 20, letter C of the Criminal Code, regarding premeditated grievous bodily harm resulting in death, which carries a maximum sentence of nine years. Alternatively, they could face charges under Article 466, paragraph 3, which carries a maximum of seven years for assault resulting in death.

Furthermore, the Air Force Military Police are applying Article 20, letter C of the Criminal Code, noting that four individuals participated in the criminal act of assaulting the victim. The investigation will continue professionally, transparently, and accountably to ensure justice for the victim and his family.

Air Vice Marshal Daan Sulfi noted that the suspects also face the possibility of being dishonourably discharged from military service. He expressed hope that the court’s decision would bring justice to the victim.

“Once the process is complete, it will be handed over to the Prosecutor for trial. Whether they are dismissed or not, the Commander has stated that any sentence exceeding six months can be grounds for a proposal for dishonourable discharge. This is crucial to provide justice for the victim and the family,” he said.

Sergeant Ahmad Struck Three Times in the Chest

The Air Force Military Police revealed that the assault by the victim’s seniors was carried as a physical beating. Sergeant Ahmad was struck three times in the chest, which ultimately led to his death.

“He was struck around the chest, three times,” Daan Sulfi confirmed.

There are four suspects in this case—Serda MTS, Serda MAD, Serda JM, and Serda AH—and three victims of bullying and assault, including Sergeant Ahmad, Sergeant ZN, and Sergeant RP.

The incident began on Tuesday (08/09) when Sergeant MTS called his junior, Sergeant RP, to ask for assistance. During the conversation, Sergeant RP abruptly hung up on him.

“The senior felt annoyed, insulted, and angry due to the incident. Consequently, on Wednesday at 21:10, a group was gathered behind the Galaksi Mess. Sergeant RP was immediately subjected to 100 push-ups and sit-ups by Sergeant MTS,” he explained.

Daan Sulfi continued that other seniors, Serda JM, Serda MAD, and Serda AH, joined the location at 21:40. At 23:05, Sergeant JM began punching the victim, Sergeant Ahmad Muzamil Fahrisa. The blows were delivered with a clenched fist directly to the victim’s chest.

“After receiving the third blow, the victim collapsed to his knees, became weak, and subsequently lost consciousness,” he added.

Upon seeing this, the seniors attempted to revive Sergeant Ahmad using various methods, including applying medicated balm and water.

“Sergeant JM, along with Serda MTS, Serda MAD, and Serda AH—who are from the same cohort—tried to revive the victim by applying medicated oil or balm to his nose and splashing water on his face and body,” he said.

Panicked by the victim’s lack of response, they transported him to the Emergency Department (IGD) using a service vehicle. They arrived at the dr. Esnawan Antariksa Hospital (or Haji Hospital in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta) at approximately 23:35. By 23:45, after medical intervention, Sergeant Ahmad Muzamil Fahriza was declared dead.
