Four scavengers die in accident

MEDAN: Four men collecting iron scraps in an old school building in Ramunia village in Pantai Labu district were killed when the building's walls collapsed on them. Five other people were severely injured in the accident in the North Sumatra regency of Deli Serdang.

Police said the victims were scavengers who had been rummaging through the building seeking scraps of iron which they could sell.

Rescue workers and local residents were still removing the bodies from the rubble on Saturday. (swe)
