Four Rogue Soldiers Involved in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Charged with Multiple Articles
Four rogue members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) suspected of throwing acid on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus have been charged under multiple articles. The articles applied relate to the criminal offence of serious assault.
“The prosecutor has applied multiple articles: Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code jointly with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. Article 468 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code jointly with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. Article 467 paragraph (1) jointly with paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code jointly with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code,” said the Head of the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, when contacted on Monday (13/4/2026).
The case files for all four have been declared complete by the Military Prosecutor’s Office. The four suspects will soon be tried.
“For the current stage, the case files for the Andrie Yunus case have been examined for formal and material requirements and declared complete,” he said.
Andri explained that his office is currently processing the case files for further proceedings. Subsequently, the indictment will be prepared by the Military Prosecutor and handed over to the Military Court.
“Currently, we are processing the said case file to immediately send the Minutes of Opinion (Bapat) and Legal Opinion Recommendation (SPH) from the Prosecutor to the Case Submitting Officer (Papera) to obtain the Prosecutor’s Decision (Skeppera), after which the Prosecutor will draft the indictment to be handed over to the Military Court for immediate trial,” he stated.
The Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta is still awaiting the trial schedule. He said the trial schedule will be issued by the Jakarta Military Court.
“For the trial schedule, that is the authority of the Jakarta Military Court II-08; when the trial will be held, the Prosecutor awaits the trial plan from the Military Court,” he said.
TNI Hands Over 4 Suspects to Military Prosecutor
Previously, the TNI had completed the investigation into the four TNI soldiers suspected of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The four TNI soldiers were handed over to the Military Prosecutor’s Office (Otmil) II-07 Jakarta.
“TNI Pushpom investigators have completed the entire series of investigation processes in accordance with applicable provisions. Subsequently, today, Tuesday, 7 April 2026, the case files, the suspects, and evidence of the criminal assault against Mr AY have been handed over from the TNI Pushpom investigators to Otmil II-07 Jakarta,” said the TNI Information Service Head, Major General (Mayjen) TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, in a statement received on Tuesday (7/4).
Aulia said the case files for the four suspects will be examined by the Military Prosecutor’s Office. If declared complete, the four suspects will be tried at the Military Court.
“Subsequently, the completeness of the case files for formal and material requirements will be examined. If the files are declared complete, they will be handed over to the Jakarta Military Court II-08,” said Aulia.
Aulia confirmed that there are four suspects handed over to the Military Prosecutor, namely NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. Evidence of the acid attack was also submitted.
“This handover is part of the TNI’s commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement, as well as a demonstration of firmness in addressing any criminal acts committed by rogue TNI personnel,” stated Aulia.
It is known that Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack on Thursday night (12/3). The TNI Pushpom then arrested four individuals suspected of carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The four are known to be members of the TNI Denma Bais from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
