Four rob Nigerian of cash, camera

JAKARTA (JP): City police are searching for three men and a woman who robbed a Nigerian national at his house on Jl. Sunter Muara Indah in North Jakarta on Tuesday evening, an officer said yesterday.

City police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said the group threatened the expatriate with sharp weapons and a gun, forcing him to hand over Rp 1 million, US$500 and a video camera.

He said the victim, Clement Ogrusa, 22, was unable to identify the suspects and he recalled little about their appearance.

"But, I think we can get something from the evidence found at the scene."

In his report, Ogrusa said the group befriended him at a bus shelter in front of Sunter Mall at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A few minutes later, he was standing alone at the shelter when a vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Kijang, approached, he told police.

The woman among the group he had just met, greeted Ogrusa and offered him a ride which he accepted, Aritonang said.

But when they arrived outside his house the group pulled out their weapons.

The Nigerian was taken inside the house and forced to hand over his belongings, the officer quoted Ogrusa as saying.

The robbers took the cash and camera but left him unharmed in the house.

Aritonang said he hoped police could locate the suspects at certain places where they were believed to hang out. (cst)
