Four road sections in North Sumatra inaugurated by President Prabowo
Medan (ANTARA) - The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, stated that four road sections constructed through the 2025 fiscal year Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for regional roads were officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
“For the North Sumatra region, there are four packages under the 2025 regional road Inpres, with a total road length of 7.10 kilometres (km), which were also inaugurated by the President,” Bobby said in Medan on Wednesday.
The Governor noted that the four regional road sections inaugurated by President Prabowo are part of a larger development project covering 1,151 km of regional roads spread across 37 provinces throughout Indonesia.
This inauguration is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 regarding the Acceleration of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency.
Data from the Ministry of Public Works indicates that the 2025 regional road Inpres packages in North Sumatra, using a single-year contract scheme, include four specific road sections.
These four sections consist of the preservation of the Tebing Tinggi–Sibulan border road in Serdang Bedagai Regency, spanning 2 km, and the Simpang Mangga–Tugu Sujono road in Simalungun Regency, spanning 1.12 km.
“The Sirongit–Lancang road in Toba Regency spans 1.7 kilometres, and Jenderal Sudirman Road in Tebing Tinggi City spans 2.28 kilometres,” Bobby explained.
The Governor also discussed plans for road infrastructure development under central government authority in North Sumatra alongside the Head of the North Sumatra National Road Implementation Office of the Ministry of Public Works, Hardy Siahaan.
According to the Governor, while several national road sections in North Sumatra are in good condition, some still require attention, as the total length of national roads in the province reaches approximately 2,600 km.
“In certain areas, the road conditions indeed require attention. With this regional road Inpres, the community, particularly those in agricultural or food granary areas, will be greatly assisted,” he said.
“Previously, there were difficulties in transporting harvests, but now it has become easier and, certainly, transport costs will be lower. We should be grateful to the President,” Bobby added.
President Prabowo Subianto stated that the development of regional road infrastructure will smooth the mobility of agricultural, plantation, and fishery products, as well as various community goods from villages to markets and industrial zones.
“Food self-sufficiency is not just about seeds, fertiliser, and irrigation. Energy self-sufficiency is not just about energy. It is also about smooth and efficient distribution networks. With the completion of these roads, I urge local governments to maintain this infrastructure as well as possible,” President Prabowo expressed via a virtual connection from the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, the North Sumatra Governor’s official residence, on Tuesday (23/6).
