Medan (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution stated that four road sections built under the 2025 Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on regional roads were inaugurated by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. “For the North Sumatra region, there are four packages of the 2025 regional road Inpres with a total road length of 7.10 kilometres that were inaugurated by the President,” Bobby said in Medan on Wednesday. The Governor said the four regional road sections inaugurated by President Prabowo are part of a total regional road development spanning 1,151 kilometres across 37 provinces in Indonesia. The inauguration is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency. Data from the Ministry of Public Works states that the 2025 regional road Inpres packages in North Sumatra, using a single-year contract scheme, cover four road sections. These sections are the preservation of the Batas Kota Tebing Tinggi–Sibulan road in Serdang Bedagai Regency spanning two kilometres, and the Simpang Mangga–Tugu Sujono road in Simalungun Regency spanning 1.12 kilometres. “The Sirongit–Lancang road in Toba Regency is 1.7 kilometres, and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in Tebing Tinggi City is 2.25 kilometres,” Bobby explained. The Governor also discussed plans for road infrastructure under the authority of the central government in North Sumatra with the Head of the North Sumatra National Road Implementation Centre of the Ministry of Public Works, Hardy Siahaan. He noted that while many national road sections in North Sumatra are in good condition, some still require attention, given that the total length of national roads in the province reaches approximately 2,600 kilometres. “In some areas, the road conditions indeed need attention. With this regional road Inpres, the community, especially in agricultural areas or food barns, will be greatly helped,” he said. “Previously, they had difficulties transporting their harvests; now it has become easy and transport costs will certainly be lower. We should express our gratitude to the President,” Bobby added. President Prabowo Subianto conveyed that the development of regional road infrastructure will facilitate the mobility of agricultural, plantation, and fishery products, as well as various community goods from villages to markets and industrial areas. “Food self-sufficiency is not only about seeds, fertilisers, and irrigation. Energy self-sufficiency is not only about energy. It is also about smooth and good distribution networks. With the completion of these roads, I urge local governments to maintain the infrastructure as best as possible,” President Prabowo stated in a virtual address from the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall at the North Sumatra Governor’s official residence on Tuesday (23/6).
