Four Protest Sites in Jakarta Today, 997 Police Officers on Standby
JAKARTA - Four demonstrations will be held in the Central Jakarta area today, Wednesday (13/5/2026).
The Head of Public Relations at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration will be held in front of the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in Sawah Besar.
“At 10:00 WIB, there will be a protest by the South Konawe Student and Youth Association at the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” said Erlyn in a written statement.
The third protest will be conducted by a group from the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Indraprasta PGRI University at 13:00 WIB on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir.
Finally, there will be a demonstration by the Student Movement Concerned with Democracy in front of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemdndikdasmen) in Sudirman, starting at 13:00 WIB.
According to Erlyn, a total of 997 combined police personnel have been mobilised for securing the demonstrations in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, traffic engineering at the demonstration sites will be carried out situationally, taking into account the number of people on the ground.
She urged the public to avoid the areas around the protests to anticipate traffic jams.
