Four ports in Banten are being prepared to transport mudik travellers heading for Sumatra during the Lebaran Idul Fitri 2026 period. One of the four ports will be used as a contingency port. Banten Police Chief Insp. General Hengki said authorities had checked the ports that will carry mudik travellers. He said the four ports were ready to serve mudik travellers. ‘Since this morning we have conducted checks on the four ports in Banten Province to ensure readiness of facilities and infrastructure, in addition to the readiness of personnel, and the facilities for officers and other stakeholders, including the readiness of ports such as Bandar Bakau Jaya Port in Bojonegara, Ciwandan, Pelindo 2 Ciwandan, and Krakatau Bandar Samudra, and finally we conducted checks at ASDP Merak,’ Hengki said at Merak Port on Wednesday (4 March 2026). Hengki said that Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Port in Bojonegara, Serang, is intended only for three-axle trucks or categories 7, 8 and 9. ‘But we always prepare including the readiness of depots/piers and we coordinate in terms of the readiness of ships that will serve, whether Bojonegoro BBJ that will serve category 7, 8, 9. Here at Merak it will serve pedestrians and private vehicles or buses,’ he said. Pedestrians and private vehicles cross via Merak Port. Meanwhile, trucks carrying basic necessities and motorcycles depart via Ciwandan Port. ‘Meanwhile Pelindo 2 Ciwandan Port will serve trucks of category 5B and 6B and two-wheeled vehicles. Krakatau Bandar Samudra is contingency when vehicles of categories 5 and 6D are extremely congested; if the situation reaches the southern JLS level we will divert to Krakatau Bandar Samudra,’ he said. Beyond port preparations, police have established several posts along the mudik route to the four ports. The posts will be manned 24 hours by joint personnel from various agencies. ‘All of this is to anticipate disasters that we will deploy at the posts here. An integrated disaster response post, including floods and maritime accidents, etc.’
