Four Pordasi Federations Strengthen Consolidation and Prepare 2026 Championship Agenda
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The transformation of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (Pordasi), decided at the XIV National Congress on 13–15 November 2024, has resulted in the formation of four National Federations: Pordasi Pacu, Pordasi Equestrian, Pordasi Polo, and Pordasi Horseback Archery. This step was taken to strengthen the focus on developing and improving equestrian sports in Indonesia.
The central leadership of these four federations was inaugurated by the Chairman of the National Sports Committee (KONI) Pusat, Lieutenant General (ret.) Marciano Norman, on 25 November 2024, and they were reaffirmed as members of KONI Pusat at the 2025 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of KONI, held on 5–6 September 2025.
Throughout 2025, the four federations prioritized organizational consolidation at the provincial and district/city levels. This consolidation was followed by a program of transformation towards the equestrian sports industry, as agreed upon at the Joint National Working Meeting of the Four Pordasi Federations on 14 January 2026 in Jakarta.
One of the main focuses is the organization of regional, national, and international championships, which have been scheduled in an official calendar. A report on this program was submitted to the Chairman of KONI Pusat on 24 February 2026 by the National Confederation and National Federations of Pordasi.
In that meeting, Marciano explained that the sports contested at the XXII/2028 PON in NTT-NTB will be based on the Olympic sports, the National Sports Grand Design (DBON), as well as priority and host-selected sports.
“This week, we will determine the supporting provinces, given that there will be no new infrastructure development,” said Marciano.
For equestrian sports, the XXII/2028 PON is planned to be held at the Jakarta International Equestrian Park Pulomas (JIEPP), Jakarta. This venue is considered to meet international standards and was previously used at the 2018 Asian Games.
Meanwhile, horseback archery, which was featured as an exhibition sport at the 2024 PON, is continuing to communicate with the host regional governments to ensure that it can be included as a sport in the 2028 PON. Pordasi Pacu also stated that it is coordinating with NTT and NTB regarding venue readiness and horse conditions. Horse polo is planned to be an exhibition sport.
The National Confederation of Pordasi has also planned to hold a Horse PON in June 2027, which will serve as a trial event and also as a qualifying round for the XXII/2028 PON in NTT-NTB.
In addition to preparations for the PON, the four federations have prepared an agenda for 2026. Pordasi Pacu will hold the National Championship Series 1 on 5–9 July and Series 2 on 6–20 September 2026, as well as several other championships, including the Sumba Cup and the HB X Cup. Horseback Archery has scheduled the Indonesian Santri League and National Championships in several regions, as well as the Asian Horseback Archery Championship in October 2026. Pordasi Equestrian plans to hold the Asia Friendly Endurance Ride (AFER) Series 2 in October and the National Championship in November 2026. Pordasi Polo will begin the formation and selection of teams in May–June 2026 before holding exhibition matches.
The four federations will also participate in provincial-level multi-event agendas, such as the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). They hope for support from the central and regional governments, including in terms of funding and coordination of events.
The National Confederation of Pordasi also encourages the clarification of the division of tasks and functions between KONI and the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) in accordance with Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sports, so that there is no overlap in the implementation of championships at the national and international levels.
