Banten Police Chief Irjen Hengki said four piers at Pelindo Ciwandan Port in the city of Cilegon have been prepared to accommodate homebound travellers during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr mudik. Hengki, together with his officials and Pelindo Ciwandan Port General Manager Benny Ariady, carried out a direct inspection at Pelindo Ciwandan Port to ensure the readiness of the routes and the smooth flow of mudik on Wednesday (4/3).

‘Pelindo Ciwandan Port has prepared four piers to support the smooth flow of mudik. In addition, we also checked the location of tents prepared for two-wheeled vehicles,’ Hengki said.

The facilities will also be complemented by ASDP with tents for ticket counters using an electronic tap system, an area for UMKM, portable toilets and places of worship.

Hengki explained that the port will also provide 12 lanes for two-wheeled vehicles, each lane with a capacity of 400 vehicles. ‘Total capacity reaches 4,800 and up to 5,000 two-wheelers. For groups 5B and 6B the capacity is 400 to 500 vehicles. So when ships dock and the gates open, vehicles are ready because their tickets have been collected,’ he said.

‘Meanwhile, in Bojonegara it is designated for three-axle vehicles of groups 7, 8, and 9, while in Merak for pedestrians, private cars and buses,’ he added.

Hengki urged mudik travellers who will cross via Ciwandan Port to switch off their vehicle engines while waiting for the ship, for everyone’s comfort and health. ‘We urge two-wheeler travellers to remain under the tents while waiting for their turn to board. In addition, vehicle engines should be switched off temporarily to avoid exposure to CO₂ gas which can have adverse health effects,’ he said.
