Four Perpetrators of Acid Attack on Activist from Navy and Air Force

The perpetrators of the attack on Kontras activist Andrie Yunus have been arrested. Commander of the TNI Military Police Centre (Danpuspom) Major General Yusri Nuryanto stated that the perpetrators are from the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU). This also refutes speculation that the attackers were from the Indonesian Army (TNI AD). “We have several branches; we state that they are from AL and AU. That’s enough,” said Yusri during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Also present were TNI Head of Information Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah and TNI Commander's Assistant for Intelligence Major General Rio Firdianto. The four individuals were part of the group that threw acid at Andrie while he was riding his motorbike alone in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night (12/3/2026) WIB. In the CCTV recording, two motorbike riders fled immediately after attacking Andrie from the crime scene.
