Four People Dead, Including a Pakistani National, in Iranian Attack on Dubai
Four people have died in the United Arab Emirates, including a Pakistani national, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi, since the US-Israel attack on Iran triggered Iran’s retaliatory strikes on neighbouring countries. The UAE has been targeted by hundreds of ballistic missiles from Iran. ‘Since the start of Iran’s bold aggression, the UAE has been targeted by 238 ballistic missiles, 1,422 drones, and eight cruise missiles,’ the UAE Ministry of Defence said via X, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
The UAE detected 17 ballistic missiles and 117 drones today. The Ministry added that 16 missiles and 113 drones were intercepted, while one missile and four drones fell into the sea.
A Pakistani national died in the Al Barsha area of Dubai after debris from a missile intercepted by air defence fell to the area. The Pakistani Embassy in the UAE mourned the incident.
‘In this time of sorrow, we share the grief of the families and offer our sincere prayers,’ the Pakistani Embassy in the UAE said, quoted by CNN on Sunday.
The casualties add to civilian tolls across the Gulf as the Iran-Israel-US conflict expands. Many of those reported killed in recent days are South Asian nationals.
Moreover, Pakistan is coordinating with UAE authorities to repatriate two Pakistani nationals who were killed by missile debris in Dubai.
‘Our diplomatic mission in the UAE is coordinating closely with Dubai authorities to provide assistance as needed and facilitate repatriation of the bodies,’ Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on his official X account.
It is known that migrant workers from South Asian countries are a cornerstone of Gulf wealth, employed in construction, services and other vital sectors. But they are also among the most vulnerable, often working in low-paid jobs and living in conditions that make them vulnerable when violence extends beyond the intended target.
The International Labour Organization estimates there are more than 24 million migrant workers in Arab countries.
