Public prosecutors have sought a nine-month prison sentence for four defendants in the murder case of Brigadier Esco Faska Rely. The four defendants are Siaun, Nuraini, Paozi, and Dani Rifkan. The sentencing demand was read by prosecutor Baiq Sri Saptianingsih during a hearing at the Mataram District Court on Tuesday evening. ‘Sentencing the defendants to imprisonment for nine months each, reduced by the time they have already spent in detention,’ demanded Baiq Sri Saptianingsih. The prosecutor stated that the four defendants were proven to have violated Article 270 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, for participating in concealing the body of Brigadier Esco. ‘Declaring that the defendants have been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act, participating in the act of concealing or disposing of a corpse to hide the death,’ she said. Siaun, Nuraini, Paozi, and Dani Rifkan were tried alongside Rizka Sintiyani, the wife of Brigadier Esco. In a separate trial, Rizka was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The prosecutor stated that Rizka committed an act of physical violence within the domestic sphere, resulting in the death of Brigadier Esco. This charge was based on Article 44 paragraph (3) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, in conjunction with Article 38 of the first appendix to Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments. Brigadier Esco was found dead in the garden behind his house in Nyiur Lembang Hamlet, Jembatan Gantung Village, Lembar District, West Lombok, on 24 August. The member of the Sekotong Police Intelligence Unit was first discovered by Siaun in a decomposed state. The victim’s face was damaged, and his neck was bound with a rope under a tree. Initially, Brigadier Esco’s death was suspected to be a suicide by hanging. However, based on the results of investigation and inquiry, the West Lombok Police named five suspects. The first person named as a suspect was Brigadier Esco’s wife, Briptu Rizka. Police subsequently named four other suspects.
