Four officials eye mayoral posts

JAKARTA: Four senior administration officials will vie for the
Central Jakarta and West Jakarta mayoral posts.

"A screening committee, chaired by City Secretary Ritola
Tasmaya, has come up with four candidates. The committee will
select two of the four as mayors," Governor Sutiyoso told
reporters on Monday at City Hall.

The four candidates are: administration spokesman Muhayat,
Jakarta Population Agency head Sylviana Murni, Coordinating Body
for National Unity head Syahrul Effendi and City Mayoral
Administration Agency Fadjar A. Panjaitan.

The elected officials will replace outgoing Central Jakarta
Mayor Hosea Petra Lumbun and West Jakarta Mayor Sarimun
Hadisaputra, who are entering retirement. -- JP
