Four Main Focuses in Customs and Excise 2027 Work Plan

Directorate General of Customs and Excise will emphasise four main focuses in its policies, work plan, and indicative budget for 2027. “The first is healthy and sustainable fiscal management. This policy is directed at improving customs facilities to attract investment, increase exports, and support industrial downstreaming,” said Director General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance, Djaka Budhi Utama, during a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, 15 June 2026, as quoted by Antara. This first step will be reinforced by optimising special zone facilities; increasing exports of micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products; and strengthening international customs cooperation. Next, the second focus for the Directorate General next year is public protection and economic support, which includes capacity building and revitalising supervision in maritime areas, borders, coasts, ports, and airports. The third focus is optimising state revenue, among others through intensifying tariff policies, excise on tobacco products, and import duties on certain commodities. “Extensification of revenue objects and expansion of the revenue base according to economic developments and societal needs, strengthening customs valuation, developing more adaptive goods classification, and strengthening joint programmes within the Ministry of Finance,” said Djaka. The fourth focus is strengthening services and organisational governance, human resources (HR), and information technology (IT). “Policies are directed at forming a more dynamic and adaptive organisation, refining customs and excise business processes, strengthening HR competence and integrity, perfecting the core system, and smart customs,” Djaka stated. Djaka explained that the 2027 work plan was designed to support the national development theme, namely accelerating quality growth through productivity, investment, and quality industry. “Based on the 2027 work framework we have presented, DJBC’s funding needs are allocated through three main programmes with a total indicative budget ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year of Rp 2.81 trillion,” said Djaka. The budget breakdown includes the fiscal policy, financial sector, and economy programme with an allocation of Rp 4.159 billion, the state revenue management programme with an allocation of Rp 749.37 billion, and the management support programme amounting to Rp 2.056 trillion.
