JAKARTA (JP): Four Indonesian tennis players defeated compatriots to make it through to the third round on Monday of the qualifying round for the Indonesia Women's Circuit 4.

Veteran Irawati Moerid Iskandar, quarterfinalist in last week's circuit tournament here, defeated newcomer Diana Julianto 6-2, 7-5 at the Danamon tennis complex in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Irawati, a former member of the national team, will challenge Montika Anuchan of Thailand on Tuesday for a ticket to the main draw, which starts on Wednesday.

Anuchan, top seeded in the qualification, taught Indonesian rookie Dian Anggraeni a lesson in her 6-2, 6-4 win.

Suci Bungaran, also an Indonesian newcomer, was untroubled in drubbing Lidya Ivana Jaya 6-0, 6-2. Suci will challenge Michelle Grobby of Australia, who was pushed to the edge in the first set before defeating third seeded Sanny Harsono of Indonesia 7-6 (7- 5), 6-1.

Only four players will earn berths in the main draw of the US$10,000 circuit tournament.
