Four KKB Members Who Killed 2 Health Workers in Southwest Papua Surrender to Police
Ten members of the armed criminal group (KKB) have been named as suspects in the case of the murder of two health workers with initials YL and YEB in Tambrauw Regency, Southwest Papua. Four of the suspects have been detained by police.
“The Southwest Papua Regional Police have designated 10 KKB members as suspects in the alleged premeditated murder case. Of that number, four individuals have been secured and detained,” stated Acting Head of Public Relations for the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Kompol Jenny Hengkelare, as reported by detiksulsel on Monday (6/4/2026).
The four apprehended KKB members have initials MY, DY, SY, and PY. The four suspects are now detained at the Sorong Police Resort Detention Centre in Sorong Regency since Saturday (4/4).
The four suspects were secured after surrendering to the police. The surrender of the suspects was not unrelated to approaches by community figures, the local government, the Tambrauw DPRD, and the Papua branch of the National Human Rights Commission.
“The surrender of the suspects was inseparable from the roles of various parties. This is not solely the result of coercive efforts by the police, but involves the involvement of various parties who encouraged the suspects to surrender,” she explained.
Deputy Head of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Southwest Papua Regional Police, AKBP Ardy Yusuf, stated that the designation of suspects was based on police report number 14 dated 16 March 2026, supported by at least two valid pieces of evidence. “The total number of suspects we have designated is 10 people. Four are detained, while the other six are still listed as wanted persons,” he said.
